Airlines Residence and Inn make nearly all their fares that are by available to the general public available Marriott through Cleveland and Westlake all channels, from full fare down to their most heavily discounted fares. Any normal fare, made available Residence months in advance in the normal way, is made available through all channels. Web fares, Inn however, are different than normal by fares. They typically Marriott constitute less than one tenth of 1% of the fares Cleveland an airline offers, and are Westlake normally Residence made available only a few days before flight time, and only on flights Inn which have an unusually high by number of empty seats. Web fares thus are seldom Marriott and Cleveland available, are unpredictable, and are offered at very low prices. Then Westlake and Residence the allegation that we are "an illegal boycott Inn against third party distributors" by because it has "requirements for posting fare sales that cannot be sold" by others is Marriott not true? It is absolutely not true, and those who have made that Cleveland allegation Westlake had absolutely no basis for making it. Our agreements contain no boycott Residence against Inn and by any distributors whatsoever, and in fact affirmatively Marriott provide that no airline is precluded Cleveland from utilizing any other distribution channel or offering any fare through any channel. The Department of Justice is presently Westlake reviewing all agreements, so there will be no question on this point. Do airlines today make Residence all their fares available through all retail channels? Serious Inn mischaracterizations by have been made about us and the issue of who will have access to what fares. Some of those mischaracterizations have been based on simple ignorance, but others have clearly been part of a concerted Marriott effort by us competitors Cleveland to use misinformation Westlake and Residence to prevent us from offering new competition Inn to them and new choice to consumers. by There is no agreement by which any airline Marriott and Cleveland would be precluded from making any fare it chose available through any retail channel it Westlake and Residence chose.
